WOC Eve

Sunday, 9 July 2006

Well, it's WOC eve over here.  The final sleep before the racing starts.  Tomorrow is the long distance qualification, followed by the middle distance on Monday.  Everything is going very smoothly.  Thanks to Alex and AJ I have a bike, made up of pirated parts and am looking forward to riding tomorrow.

Today was the model event.  A complete 'mini-me' of the racing to come.  Using some 'oppposite theory' I predict we'll all ride well tomorrow.  Given that all of us felt flat and like we'd never seen a map before today, which I choose to take as a good omen!

In the last few days things have really amped up.  All the teams have arrived and it's really starting to feel like a Very Big Race.  The organisation is mostly excellent, but not without blemish, as we opted to skip the official meal tonight.  We all agreed we could only eat so much potato and meatballs!  And so we went out to a more palatable Italian restaurant with a salad bar.

We'll be posting our views from the day tomorrow evening about 8 or 9 pm if all goes well.  It's great to finally start racing!
