Training in Vermont
Friday, 20 July 2007
Despite the guidebook saying the state has thousands of kms of fantastic mtb riding trails, no one seems to know where they are. Even the two biggest bike shops in town couldn't give me any clues. Still, I have managed to find a variety of tracks in my short rides from the conference accommodation:

The conference went well. Plenty of very good food which was of course in line with my training plan (thanks for that advice Coach Dad).

I had a few hours off one afternoon and a conference participant from Japan insisted he wanted to come cycling with me. We rode 30km to an area I found via the internet that was supposed to be developed for MTB, just to find an abandoned building, some overgrown vehicle tracks and some very sketchy, rooted, rocky, muddy single track. After hiking our bikes for a few kms, we gave up and rode the 30km back in to Burlington.

Conference finished yesterday but it's raining heavily today and I'm over the Lake Champlain bike track, so it's a washing & email day. I catch the bus to Montreal tomorrow.
There should be some more pics of my alternative lead up to world champs in the gallery soon.
