Training in Chicago
Sunday, 8 July 2007
In contrast to Prague, Chicago is probably one of the worst places
in the world for mountain biking. It is flat. The closest I'm going to
get to hill training is mounting a kerb. The roads are effectively
parking lots with narrow gaps between stationary cars with engines off
and stationary cars with engines on. There is a lovely bike path for
about 20km along the lake shore front but on Wednesday 4th of July when
I went out for my first cycle, there were way too many revelers to
dodge. When I came across a wall of people at the 'Taste of Chicago'
food festival, there was nothing else I could do but join in. I have to
say the cheesecake on a stick, dipped in chocolate is the trip
highlight so far. Photos to follow. Thor
