Welcome to the blog of the 2010 Australian MTBO team

Welcome to the blog of the Australian Mountain Bike Orienteering (MTBO) team.  It is now 8 weeks before the start of the 2010 World Championships and the team is busy training, competing and finalising plans to make the trip to Europe (at least those of us who are not already here).

This year´s MTB WOC and JWOC will be held simultaneously in the forests around Montelegra, Portugal.   We´re expecting a bit of urban riding for the sprint distance and otherwise steep, steep terrain in the forests.  You can read more about the area and view some sample maps here.

For the first time, we have an Aussie junior team of 3 junior men:  Marc Gluskie, Chris Firman, Luke Polland.  They will be competing in the 3rd MTB-JWOC against 16 other nations who are (to date) sending junior riders to Portugal.  Racing in the MTB WOC we have a senior team of 4 men and 2 women.  You can read more about each of the riders here.  Kay Haasma will be accompanying the team as the coach.

Keep an eye on the blog and follow the team´s progress and adventures in the lead up to the Championships.

 Happy peddling  :-)
